Applying for Veterans Benefits

When you apply for a medical service connected benefit, you are evaluated by two different sub agencies of the VA:

The Veterans Benefit Administration (to determine if you are entitled to compensation)

The Veterans Health Administration (to determine if you are entitled to health care)

You may be entitled to service connected health care even though you are denied compensation.

Every Veteran is encouraged to enroll in the VA Medical System

Methods of applying

1.      Contact the Larimer County Veterans Service Office in the County Courthouse and make an appointment

Telephone (970)498-7390

Web site www.larimer.org/veterans

Their website is simple and easy to navigate. The Veteran Services Coordinator, Debbie Pierrson and her  crew are extremely knowledgeable of the VA system. They are also very, very, busy with other Veterans and it may take you awhile to get an appointment. This office will represent you throughout the claims process.

The Post Service Officer can assist you with these claims and then be submitting it through The Department Service Officer. The Department Service Officer will represent you throughout the claims process.

3.      . Direct application to the VA.

Go to www.ebenefits.va.gov. This web site allows you to do on-line applications and even has an online wizard to help you.
